Dare Mighty Things by Heather Kaczynski
4 stars! I was due for a sci-fi and I really enjoyed this one. Strong debut! Several highly intelligent teenagers are selected to compete to go on a mission into space. It's Cassie's dream come true. I liked Cassandra and the friendships she made through out the competition. She is strong and is determined to win. I must say the ending surprised me. I didn't see that coming. Looking forward to book 2.
Tatiana and Alexander by Paulina Simons
5 stars! I really enjoyed getting back into this story. Tatiana is in New York with her their son while Alexander is still in the Soviet Union. Tatiana has been told Alexander has died but she doesn't believe it. They are apart but still so much in love. I would have loved for them to be together more in this book. A large portion of the book followed Alexander. Tatiana can't move on without him and is determined to find her husband. I am in love with triology and can't wait to dive in to the third book.
The Bronze Horseman by Paulina Simons
Wow! 5 beautiful stars for The Bronze Horeman. I think this may have been the best book I've ever read! It's historical fiction set in 1941 Russia. The Metanov family are living in Leningrad during war with the Germans. Times were tough and the people of Leningrad were starving and freezing. It was devastating to read. This book was an emotional roller coaster. Loss, love and and emotion in between.
I loved the characters and the relationships. Everything about this book is perfection. The dress with the red roses and the eating the ice cream cone on the bench. Tatiana and Alexander are my favorite couple. No doubt about it, this is my favorite book!
Turtles all The Way Down by John Green
4 stars! I have a love hate thing going on with John Green. I have read more of his books that I didn't care for than I actually liked but I continue to read every book he writes. I did enjoy Turtles All the Way Down. Aza has OCD and anxiety that by the end of the book had me saying "OMG"! I just can't imagine having a disorder to that extent. This book was sad at times. And Aza's best friend telling her being her friend is so much work was depressing. Overall I know John Green fans will devour this book. This is the second book of John's that I did enjoy.
Sparked by Helena Echlin, Malena Watrous
4.5 stars! This was a fun Halloween read. Spooky and suspenseful, it had me guessing until the end. Definitely a fast moving read. Set in a quiet town where teenagers are finding out they have super powers and discovering others who also have powers. These kids need to join together to fight the evil of an ancient prophecy that is coming to their town on All Hallows' Eve. This book had me on the edge of my seat and was very entertaining.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K Rowling, John Tiffany, Jack Thorne
4 stars! I loved getting back into the Harry Potter world. I was not a fan of reading this as a script but I'll take anything to get more Harry Potter. The story takes place many years after Hogwarts. Harry, Ron and Hermoine are adults with children of their own. Their kids are attending Hogwarts and are using their magic to get into trouble.
This was not as good as the original books but I wasn't expecting it to be. It was fun returning to this world to see Harry, Ron and Hermoine married with families. I'd read anything Harry Potter.

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
If you received a phone call letting you know you were going to die that day, how would you spend your last day?
Mateo and Rufus both receive a call from Death Cast and both are going to die today. They don’t know each other but they are both looking for a new friend on their end day. They meet on an app called Last Friend app and they spend their last hours together.
Two boys, the same age, living in NYC but yet are completely different. Mateo is antisocial, has never been in a relationship with someone and his dad is in a coma. Rufus lives in a foster home, recently broke up with his girlfriend and has been into some trouble recently. These two strangers build an incredible friendship in less than 24 hours.
Death cast has been around for a while and the city has accommodations for deckers, those that have received the Death Cast call. Whether it be a free meal at a restaurant, virtual reality experiences or an 80 minute travel around the world, you can find it.
Mateo and Rufus manage to say goodbye to all their loved ones, do a couple of adventures that they have always wanted to do all while getting to know each other. This was such a unique story. Adam really did a fantastic job writing this. Although it is about dying, it really is also a book about living. I really enjoyed this story and would recommend. 4 stars!
Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust
I really enjoyed this Snow White retelling by debut author Melissa Bashardoust. It was a bit of Snow White with a lot of unique twists. Written in the two main characters POVs, Lynet and Mina. Mina has a heart made of glass and Lynet is made from snow and blood.
It starts off with Mina as a young girl who lives with her father, a magician who the towns people are scared of. Because Mina is the magicians daughter, nobody wants to be around her. She has no friends and her father is not loving or affectionate. Since Mina’s heart is glass she can’t love or be loved. Mina and her father then move from the South to the North. The queen has died in child birth and the king and princess Lynet are left without a mother and wife. Mina has set her sights on the widowed King and the crown. Mina finds her way to the king by winning the heart of Lynet first.
Lynet was created to look exactly like her dead mother, the queen. Her father tells her she will grow up to be just like her mother who is beautiful and delicate. Lynet is beautiful but that is where the simularites to the late queen end. Lynet is brave and likes to climbs trees. She has no desire to be like this woman she’s never met. Lynet has never had a mother and adores Mina. Its not long before the king marries Mina and she becomes Lynet’s stepmother and the new queen.
Lynet and Mina have a strong relationship. Lynet comes to Mina every night so her Mina can brush her hair. She trusts her stepmother until an unfortunate event reveals some secrets that makes Lynet question her stepmother. This feminist fairy tale was beautifully written with a magical world where the curse of the North prevents the snow to never stop falling.
Lynet also has a relationship with Nadia that really had some growth throughout the book. Nadia is the surgeon who is the same age as Lynet. Lynet has never had a close friend and is mesmerized by Nadia. The ending of the book was so beautifully done. 4 stars! This was a very enjoyable, entertaining read and I would recommend picking up a copy when it releases on September 5th.
Thank you to Flat Iron Books for a review copy!
The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken
3 stars! I received this book from BEA and it was one of my most highly anticipated books I received from my BEA trip. I have enjoyed Bracken’s others books but unfortunately this one wasn’t for me. I am sure a lot of people will enjoy this book, it was just a bit too middle grade for me. I couldn’t get into the story. I did enjoy the Fall/Halloween vibe. Bracken’s writing is great as expected.
If There's No Tomorrow by Jennifer Armentrout
This is my first Jennifer Armentrout book and I couldn’t put it down! I received this advance copy from BEA. This was a devastating, emotional book about a tragic topic. I am still thinking about this days after I’ve finished the book. Can every teenager read this book please? It makes me never want to get into a car with someone who has had even just one drink.
Lena is starting her senior year and has everything going for her. She has a great circle of friends, she plays volleyball with talks of a scholarship and she grew up living next door to her best friend/crush. Lena has a great friendship with Dary, Abbi and Megan. Sebastian is her best friend and she’s had a crush on him their entire friendship. The relationship build up between Lena and Sebastian was cute. Sebastian seemed to be a bit of a tease. I was confused at times whether he liked, liked her or if he only liked her as a friend.
And then one decision Lena makes changes her life forever. Lena doesn’t know how to deal with the guilt. She doesn’t know how she will be able to move on after what has happened. It’s a story about survivors guilt and it was heartbreaking.
Jennifer’s writing is fantastic! I loved the ACOWAR references!! I must read every book she has ever written now. 5 stars!!
Dirty Red by Tarryn Fisher
4.5 stars! I liked this book even more than the first in the series. Leah!! I don't like her but I can't get enough of her. I can't wait to jump into the third book to see what's going to happen.
The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher
My first Tarryn Fisher book! I can't believe I waited so long to read one. I'm hooked! I'll be reading all of Tarryn's books now. I can tell she's been spending time with Colleen. She is ranking right up there with Colleen Hoover. 4 stars!
Without Merit by Colleen Hoover
I was so excited to receive a copy of Without Merit in my mailbox, I put my other books aside so I could jump right in. Colleen Hoover is my favorite romance author and I would read anything she writes. She said Without Merit would be different from her other books. And there was very little book description so I went in not knowing what this would be about.
After reading It Ends With Us last year I was prepared to have Colleen rip my heart out once again. While Without Merit wasn’t as heartbreaking as It Ends With Us, it is a story about another serious topic. It’s not a romance, although we get a bit. It’s a YA story that focuses on Merit and her family and each one of their struggles and secrets.
Merit is a teenager who’s family lives in a converted church. Yep, there’s still a statue of Jesus hanging on the wall. Her living situation is unusual to say the least. She lives with her brother and sister, their father and her step-mother and step-brother. Her step-uncle is living there and an employee of her fathers but the kicker is Merit’s mother (wife #1) is also living there. And did I mention that wife #1 and wife #2 are both named Victoria. This is a big family with a lot of secrets, and Merit is trying to keep all these secrets while struggling with her own issues. It’s not going so well for her.
Merit’s character is negative and impulsive and she can’t take it anymore. Finally the secrets come out and it’s not until she’s at the lowest of lows till she realizes the issues are with her. All these secrets were of Merits perspective and things aren’t always as they seem.
I know readers will fall in love with Sagen. The three words he said to Merit the first day they met gave me goosebumps. I loved that he is artistic and his sketches are throughout the book. And each sketch has a saying. This book wasn’t focused on their romantic relationship.
Without Merit is a story about depression, and mental issues. While this was a heavy topic, Colleen still added her usual humor and I really enjoyed this book. I loved how the story took place in a little town in Texas and it even had a bookstore very similar to the Bookworm Box. As in all Colleen books, I love the name choices she picks for her characters. They are very unique. I hope she never stops writing books because I will never stop buying them! Although this is not my favorite of Colleen’s books it is still a 5 star must read. Cohorts will love it!
Thank you to the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review!
Warcross by Marie Lu
5 Stars!! I got to meet the lovely Marie Lu at BEA this year and received a signed ARC of the much anticipated Warcross. I was so excited to read this one and it did not disappoint. This felt like Ready Player One meets the Hunger Games. A YA sci-fi set in a futuristic world where gaming is a way of life. Yes, please! Readers are going to devour this!
Emika Chen is a hacker and a bounty hunter that tracks down Warcross players who bet illegally on the game. Bounty hunting is a competitive business and she is broke, about to be kicked out her apartment and soon to be living on the street when she accidentally glitches herself into the Warcross opening game. Emika is sure she will be arrested but instead she is contacted by the Warcross creator, billionaire Hideo Tanaka who flies her to Tokyo immediately and that is when her life changes.
This is fast paced and action packed with a bit of romance thown in. Marie Lu did an incredible job creating these virtual worlds that are so colorful and detailed. The only thing about receiving an early copy is now I have to wait even longer for the sequel. I would highly recommend Warcross!
The Crown by Kiera Cass
4 stars! Enjoyable and quick read! I am glad to be wrapping up this series. Book 1 - 3 are still my favorites. I wasn’t that crazy about the guys in the selection. None of them really stood out to be the one I was hoping she’d end up with. I was still unsure who she was going to choose up until the end. I did like Eadlyn’s character these past two books. Her character really developed in this last book and she will make a strong leader. And we learned more about Maxon’s past and some loose ends were tied up. Overall, I loved this series and I’d definitely recommend it!
The Heir by Kiera Cass
4 stars! I finally am getting back into this series. I’m late to the party! I really enjoyed the first three books in this series but after seeing not the best reviews coming in on book 4, I wasn’t in a rush to pick to up. I actually liked this book and rated it 4 stars. We fast forward 20 years and Maxon and America are King and Queen and Eadlyn is the princess. Her parents are pressuring her to find a husband and what better way to do say then a selection. Although Eadlyn is not interested in finding a husband she goes through with it for her family. We get introduced to several young men, some good and some not so much. Eadlyn is a strong young women and she won’t be taking shit from no man. I do like her character and I’m still enjoying this series!
The One by Kiera Cass
I am loving this series! More action from the Rebels in this third book. Maxon finally has to make his decision and the king has been relentless on getting rid of America. The third book did not disappoint. That ending!! I'm excited to continue on with this series. Another 5 star book in The Selection series!
The Elite by Kiera Cass
Another gorgeous cover! This love triangle! Is America going to end up with Maxon or Aspen? I love how we got to learn more about Maxon in this book. I hate the king! I really hope she chooses Maxon even though I like Aspen too. Sigh!! There was a lot more running from the Rebels in this book. It seemed like they were always in danger. I think America's character really developed in this book. She is getting in the swing of things at the castle. Her relationship with Maxon is developing as well. I need to read the next in the series asap! 5 stars!!
The Selection by Kiera Cass
The cover is beautiful! I really liked everything about this book. This Dystopian is somewhat like The Bachelor. It takes place in a castle with beautiful dresses and a handsome prince. Yes, please! Will Maxon choose America to be his princess? Oh and there is a love triangle going on. The characters are great. This book was easy to get wrapped up in. It was a quick and fun read! Can't wait to read the next in the series! 5 stars!
There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins
4 stars! This was one of my most anticipated books to pick up at BEA this year. I was very excited to have snagged a copy. Honestly I wasn’t sure what to expect. A horror book being written by one of my favorite contemporary romance authors is different. A teenage slasher story is not my usual genre but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this. It was well written and entertaining. I loved that the main character recently moved here from Hawaii as I just recently returned from a vacation there. There was plenty of blood, gore and suspense. It was a fun read and I would recommend!
Voyager by Diana Gabaldon
I am in love with this series! I definitely enjoyed this book more than Dragonfly in Amber. This book was huge, over 1,000 pages! I love everything about this story including the characters, the time travel, the century and the location. There is something about Jamie in a kilt that drives me and several of the book characters wild. Claire and Jamie are one of my favorite book couples! Their relationship is loving, sexy and humorous. I laughed a lot reading this one. Diana Gabaldon is brilliant! I can’t even imagine the time it takes to research and write just one of these books. There is a lot of history in each of these stories. Claire is a doctor so there are a ton of medical and herbal/medicinal information. Voyager picks up right where Dragonfly in Amber left off but 20 years later. Claire and Jamie’s daughter has grown up and Claire is ready to go back through the rocks in search of Jamie. Claire has always had Jamie’s heart and their marriage and love for each other continues. There is adventure in the third book along with pirates and treasure. I can’t get enough of the Outlander series and I’m really enjoying the TV show too. 4 stars!!
Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham
I am a Lena Dunham fan. I loved her HBO series Girls. This book was just meh for me. She is funny and I had some laughs but some of the chapters were a bit slow. I listened to this on audiobook which was read by Lena. Not bad. 3 stars.
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
From the first chapter I knew this was going to be a powerful book. I had already heard great reviews and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Narrated by Star, the main character who is a young lady growing up in a rough neighborhood. She has seen things that nobody should ever have to see. Star is a brave girl with a strong voice. I loved her character and her family. This was the first book I’ve read about police brutality and it was heartbreaking. I really enjoyed this book and agree with others this should be recommended reading for everyone. It really was an eye opener to this topic. Not only was this sad but it was funny at times. I loved the Harry Potter references. Great job Angie Thomas! 5 Stars!!
The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
This was my first Becky Albertalli book and I really enjoyed it! It was a quick read that was funny and cute. I loved Molly Peskin-Suso and all her crushes. If your looking for a diverse book, look no further. This book is for you. It was a nice change from my usual books. I will definitely be reading more of Becky’s books! 4 stars for The Upside of Unrequited!
The Valiant by Lesley Livingston
Another 5 star read of 2017! This book is a historical YA set in Rome. This was fast paced and I couldn’t put it down. Badass female gladiators in an action packed story, yes please! I really liked the characters in this book. Fallon is the main character and becomes friends with Elka who is pretty badass herself. Caesar and even Cleopatra make an appearance in the story. And then there was the romance which moved surprisingly quick for me. She was in love in Mael and wanted to marry him and things quickly changed. She met Cai and within a few days they were in love. I still really enjoyed in this story and would highly recommend it. A can’t wait to get back into this story with book 2!
A List of Cages by Robin Roe
This book was heartbreaking! I knew it was going to be an emotional book but I still was not prepared. This is a strong debut novel that you won’t be able to put down! I loved Julian’s character and just wanted to give him a hug. He is in a situation that nobody should have to go through especially a child. It was disturbing to read about it at times. Luckily he has a friend like Adam by his side who is looking after him. This very well could be the top book of 2017! I recommend picking up a copy! 5 stars!
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
*January 2017 Release Date** I received an advance copy of this book from Netgalley in an exchange for a review. This is a beautifully written Russian Folklore/fairytale. The cover is gorgeous with the little house in the snow. Goodreads is showing a different cover which is not as pretty. This is Katherine Arden’s debut novel and it didn’t disappoint. I’ve read other books set in Russia and with the names and Russian words I wouldn’t say they are easy reads. But it’s well worth the slow start as you get used to the Russian. I love fantasy and folklore so I was pulled right into this story from the start.
The story is about a Russian family living in in the wilderness where winter lasts most of the year. Vasilisa’s mother died and her nurse Dunya lives with the family and looks after her as her own. She grows up listening to Dunya’s fairytales about the woods and Frost. Vasilisa is not an ordinary girl and I easily fell in love with her character. The story is full of magical creatures and lots of folklore. I’ll admit it was creepy at times. This was a very enjoyable read that I would highly recommend. 4 stars!!
Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones
After reading just the first page of this book I knew I was going to love it! Enchanting, magical and musical! I was intrigued by the goblin king and this underground world. Liesl is the plain sister who helps run the family’s inn. She grew up hearing tales about the mysterious goblin king. And when her sister Kathe gets taken by the goblin’s to be the bride of the goblin king, Liesl will do anything to save her sister including giving her life for her sister’s freedom.
Who is this mysterious goblin king? “He is the Lord of Mischief, the Ruler Underground, and the muse around which her music is composed.”
This book was beautifully written. I really enjoyed the music in this story, and the characters. And there were steamy parts! I think a lot of readers will enjoy this book! It comes out in February!
4 stars!
History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera
I received this arc from Soho press in exchange for a review. This is my first Adam Silvera book and I really enjoyed it! Adam’s writing is fantastic! It is a coming of age story about Griffin who is OCD and dealing with the loss of his first boyfriend. We get to read about the history between Griffin and Theo along with the present, after Theo was gone. It was heartbreaking at times. The main character has OCD which was interesting to read about. This is the first book I’ve read that was about this disorder. 4 stars!! I will definitely be picking up Adam’s other book.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
I was lucky enough to meet Patrick Ness at Bookcon in NYC where I received a copy of this book. I had already heard good things about it and I can’t believe I waited so long to finally read this! It was heartbreaking, moving, and unique. The illustrations were perfect! This book is about Conor, a 13 year old boy who lives with his single mother going through cancer treatments. It’s an incredibly powerful story about loss. A must read read for everyone. 5 stars!!
For This Life Only by Stacey Kade
I recieved an advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a review. Although this is not a book I would have picked up on my own, I was completely pulled into the story and finished this book in a few days. This is a story about Jace losing his twin brother in an accident they were both involved in. Jace died for 3 minutes before being brought back. His whole life changed after that. Jace’s dad is a pastor so the story involves their religion and a family under the eye of the church community. This was coming of age story that touched on beliefs, doubts and coping with death. I will be picking up some more Stacey Kade books! 3.5 stars!
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
5 stars for It Ends With Us! Wow!!! I went into this book knowing nothing about it. Every twist and turn of this story was shocking. This book had me in tears!! It Ends With Us is amazing, raw and powerful! Colleen never fails at pulling on my heart strings with each book she writes but damn, this one broke me! From the dedication in the beginning to the ending note from the author.
Lilly hasn’t had the easiest life growing up in Maine. But life is good once she moves to Boston. “Everything is better in Boston.” She opens her own business and meets her new best friend Allysa. She starts a relationship with Ryle Kincaid, the gorgeous, rich neurosurgeon. Things are going great between them but then she runs into Atlas Corrigan, her first love, bringing back all those memories of their past together.
It’s crazy how things can be so good and within seconds your whole life can be turned upside done. So shocking! So heartbreaking! Lily has some decisions to make. And I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what Lily’s final decision would be.
I really liked Lilly as a character in this story. She is a strong person coming from a not so easy past, determined to make her dream of having her own store a reality. I loved how we got to read her childhood “Dear Ellen” letters that told the past and her relationship with Atlas. And I’m in love with the name Atlas! I liked the relationship she had with Atlas. But Ryle comes into her life and he is the perfect man. Who is the best guy for Lilly?
It’s no surprise that Colleen’s writing was beautiful! I’d read anything this woman writes! This is my new favorite of hers. I’d highly recommend this book to everyone.
A Court of Thornes and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
This book was soooooo freakin good! Sarah J Maas is my favorite fantasy author so I was expecting to love it. I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with this series even more than the Throne of Glass series. I really loved these characters and this world that Sarah created. She has mad skills as an author. Her writing is breathtaking! Feyre and Tamlin are my new favorite couple. I can’t wait to see where this story goes. And we are getting 8 of these beautiful books! Yes!!! 5 stars for ACOTAR!
Caraval by Stephanie Garber
This was a fun, magical story with several twists and turns that kept me wanting more. I was excited to receive an advance reading copy of this highly anticipated debut novel. You guys are in for a real treat! Stephanie Garber has created a beautiful, magical world in which Caraval takes place. I am not surprised that this has already been bought by Fox 2000 for a major film release.
Scarlett and Tella are two sisters living on an island with their horrible father. Scarlett will do anything to protect Tella and herself from their father even if means marrying a man she’s never met in an arranged marriage. Then, after a lifetime of letters to Legend, the organizer of Caraval, Scarlett and Tella receive tickets to the game. The sisters run away from home with the help of a sailor they just met, to go to Caraval. It doesn’t take long before Tella is kidnapped and Scarlett finds out that this seasons Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first wins the game.
“What happens beyond this gate may frighten or excite you, but don’t let any of it trick you. We will try to convince you it’s real, but all of it is a performance. A world built of make-believe. So while we want you to get swept away, be careful of being too swept away”.
I definitely got swept away in the story. It was so magical and fun but determining what was real and was part of the game was tricky. The bond between these two sisters is strong and unbreakable. And there is an unexpected romance! I loved this book! This is my favorite fantasy read this year!! 5 stars!
Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma
I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book since the story is about insest. Not a topic I’m used to reading about. Lochan and Maya are brother and sister and with their absent alcoholic mother they are left to play the role of mother and father to their younger siblings. I couldn’t stop reading this very forbidden book! Insest is disturbing yes, however I had to find out what was going to happen to them if someone found out. Their relationship. Their family. I wasn’t expecting that heartbreaking ending. Very unique book! 4 stars!

Fallen Heir by Erin Watt
Holy crap! That ending! This series is so addictive. The fourth book is all about Easton Royal. I do love East! He’s hot, rich and likes to have a good time. He’s used to getting whatever he wants. That’s what attracts him to Hartley, she doesn’t want him. And no girl has ever not wanted him before. He is up for the challenge to make Hartley want him.
Easton is up to his usual drunken and destructive ways. Football, parties, gambling and fighting. He doesn’t always make the best choices and he has no worries of the consequences. Easton has family secrets and so does Hartley.
Hartley is a mystery. She’s new to Astor and she’s trying to get through the school year unnoticed. She’s attracted to Easton but she doesn’t have time for a boyfriend. Easton is persistent in pursuing Hartley to the point where he is on the stalker level. Switching his entire schedule to match hers, showing up places where she would be, lurking around her house. I wanted to yell “take a hint bro, she’s not interested”!
We really get to know Easton in this book. And the other characters we love make appearances along with the same Astor Park kids and a new addition. Not as hot and steamy as the first 3 books. There was just about zero steaminess. This book is the foundation of the Easton/Hartley story. I can’t wait to see where their relationship goes. I think Hartley will be good for Easton. He needs a strong woman to tame him. Easton deserves to find someone who’s not just after him for his last name.
And the cliffhanger!! Aghhhh!! How could you Erin Watt! I am ruined!!
January can’t come fast enough! The first book in the series will always be my favorite. But I will continue to devour every book they give me about the Royals. I can’t get enough of them.
Twisted Palace by Erin Watt
I can’t believe this is the last book! I want more Royals! Thank you to the publisher for an arc of this book. I had my fingers crossed that it would show up on my kindle. I flew through this book as expected. Each book in the series has been fun and addictive. 5 stars for Twisted palace!
We were left with a big cliffhanger at the end of Broken Prince. Twisted Palace picked up right where we left off. It really wrapped everything up nicely. Reed really stood out in this book. He would do anything to protect Ella and his family. And Ella would do anything for Reed and the Royals. I love the relationship Reed and Ella have. There were plenty of steamy moments between them in this book. I don’t want to give any spoilers. This is my favorite series of 2016. You guys are in for a treat! Only a couple more days until release! If you haven’t started this series yet, now is the perfect time.
Broken Prince by Erin Watt
These Royals will ruin you…
From wharf fights and school brawls to crumbling lives inside glittery mansions, one guy tries to save himself.
Reed Royal has it all—looks, status, money. The girls at his elite prep school line up to date him, the guys want to be him, but Reed never gave a damn about anyone but his family until Ella Harper walked into his life.
What started off as burning resentment and the need to make his father’s new ward suffer turned into something else entirely—keep Ella close. Keep Ella safe. But when one foolish mistake drives her out of Reed’s arms and brings chaos to the Royal household, Reed’s entire world begins to fall apart around him.
Ella doesn’t want him anymore. She says they’ll only destroy each other.
She might be right.
Secrets. Betrayal. Enemies. It’s like nothing Reed has ever dealt with before, and if he’s going to win back his princess, he’ll need to prove himself Royally worthy.

Paper Princess by Erin Watt
Well this book definitely lived up to the hype surrounding the book release. I had seen 5 star review after 5 star review of the ARC. I couldn’t wait to get a copy. 5 stars for Paper Princess! From the first chapter I was hooked and didn’t want to stop reading. While the main characters are in high school, this book should not be considered a YA book. It was sexy sexy! So the main character Ella has had a shitty start to life being poor, losing her mom and having to take care of herself by doing whatever it took to have food and a roof over her head. Then Callum Royal finds her and moves her into his mansion with his 5 smoking hot sons, Reed, Easton, Sawyer, Sebastian and Gideon. Poor little rich girl is now living in a mansion, going to a private school and surrounded by ridiculously rich people. Reed Royal is my favorite followed by Easton Royal. This book is addicting, steamy and left me anticipating the second book. That ending was a shocker!!
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Wow! I loved this book! I received an ARC from Bookcon. My first thought was that it didn’t look like my type of book. It’s made up of emails and messages. I’m so glad I gave this a read! A truly unique book! I adored it! Can’t wait for Gemina!! 5 stars!!
Alienated by Melissa Landers
4.5 stars! It was cute, funny and a light read. Very enjoyable. First of all, the cover is beautiful! I really liked the relationship between Cara and Aelyx, two strong characters. They didn’t want to be paired together for the L'eihr exchange but they began to trust each other and become interested in each other’s cultures which lead to their romance. The other people in the community didn’t like having a L'eihr in their town which resulted in racism towards A'elyx and the other L'eihrs. I really enjoyed reading about the L'eihr’s and their customs. I liked both the main characters in this story and their romance. I thought the book was well written. I can’t wait to read Invaded!
Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
5 Stars! I received an advance copy from Netgalley. Alexandra Bracken is one of my favorite authors. It is no surprise that this book is beautifully written. I’ve read The Darkest Minds series and this book is nothing like it. Alex did her research on this one. I loved everything about this book, the characters, the places they went and the romance. The time traveling was different and fun with a touch of historical romance. And what a beautiful cover! I can’t wait for the second book in the series so I can jump back into this beautiful world Alexandra has created.
Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon
5 stars! I got to meet Nicola Yoon at Bookcon and received this beautiful ARC! I devoured this book! It was a quick read and I couldn’t get enough. It was very cute and had me laughing at times. This book gave me all the feels. And the ending surprised me. Strong debut novel! Can’t wait to read more from this author.
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
5 stars! Jandy Nelson is such an amazing author. Her writing is absolutely beautiful and so unique. This book is about grief from losing a sister. It was sad but also funny at times. It was beautiful and heart-breaking. I loved the characters and really really fell in love with Lennie Walker. She has been through a lot and is dealing with the loss of her sister, she’s confused and ends up learning more about herself throughout the book. This book was an unexpected delight.
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
This was a monster of a book! Each book in the series is bigger than the last. I really enjoyed this book. It’s no surprise that Sarah J Maas can right a damn good book. So many new characters introduced in Heir of Fire. Witches and Fairies and Rowan!! 😍 I can’t wait for Queen of Shadows! 4 stars for Heir of Fire!
Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
Wow!! The second book did not disappoint. I think I may have enjoyed this book more than the first. Chaol!!!!! 😍 5 ass kicking stars for Crown of Midnight!
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
I really enjoyed this book! The main character, Celaena Sardothien, Adarlan’s Assassin is a kickass heroine. At first she comes off as arrogant and selfish but then she opens up. I really liked her as a character. She speaks her mind, she has tons of energy and is determined.
This book was a fast read with action and the beginning of a love triangle! I am torn between Chaol and Dorian! Throughout the book something would happen between Celaena and Dorian and I would think I want her to end up with Dorian. But then something would happen between her and Chaol and I would think he’s the one I want her to end up with. I can’t make up my mind yet.
This story had just the right amount of magic going on. A little bit of fantasy, romance and action. It was the perfect amount of everything. I can’ t wait to start the next book in the series! 5 stars!!
